Promises Promises

I don't make promises that often but when I make a promise to one of my daughters they know dad will come through.  I had such an awesome weekend with my ladies.  Their happiness here is priceless.

There's rules in our home: take your shoes off upon entry and put them in the closet, hang your coats up, show me your homework folders.  Then wash the school funk off your hands.  Those are the rules at the Palace or are they really rules?  I call it discipline or structure.  They follow every rule here just as I do.  They get after me if I don't make the bed in the morning and vise/versa.

My girls respect our home when they're here and in return they are rewarded: with chores in which they get paid for.  Today I had seven singles and I said you each have chores to do before the money is yours.  Gabby vacuumed every room and wet swiftered the tile floors: kitchen, bathrooms, and bar area.  Olivia's job was to bleach wipe my end table/coffee table, then bleach wipe the sinks and the sink fixtures, then empty bathroom garbage cans.  They got their $7.00 and I got my money's worth.

I pinky promised to make cupcakes with Gabby this weekend.  I keep my promises.  I guess sometime yesterday I talked to the ex and she said she was coming at 2pm today.  My plan was to make pork chops and brown gravy with whipped potatoes and cream corn.  After cleaning most of the day and entertaining my ladies, the phone rings at 1:45pm and it's baby's momma saying she'll be there at 2pm.  I was going to wait until 3pm to do cupcakes and start dinner.  Guess not.

Gabby and Olivia cried their eyes out because I promised to make cupcakes today.  I had Gabby call her mom and tell her I'd make the cupcakes and they could frost them at home.  She was appeased and I made the cupcake batter and it was in the oven at 2pm.  I took the 12 cupcakes out at 2:40pm and had them get ready to leave.  Gabby wanted to stay but I said "your mom's not going to let you stay another night but at least we got the cupcakes made!"

Dad came through on the promise.

Their mom came at 3pm sharp and you could tell the girls wanted to stay but I told them "until next time, I LOVE YOU!!"

  2. It's the worst when my husband doesn't come through for the kids when he tells them he will do something. It's a bad habit to teach them. So, pat yourself on the back! You are doing a great thing for those girls!
